Short biography (IEEE style):

Raphael Visoz was born in Grenoble, France, in 1972. He received the preliminary doctorate certificate (DEA) in Theoretical Physics from Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) de Lyon, France, in 1995 and the Dipl. Ing. in Telecommunications from TELECOM Bretagne, Brest, France, in 1997, including a Mobile Communication specialization at Eurécom, Sophia Antipolis, France. He received his Ph. D. degree in Digital Communications from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST), Paris, France, in February 2002. He received his Accreditation to Supervise Research (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches)  from the University Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris 6, France, in September 2006. He was elevated to Senior Member of IEEE and SEE in 2008. Since November 1997, he has been working for France Telecom R&D, Issy Les Moulineaux, France in the field of third generation (and beyond) mobile radio systems. From 2003 to 2006, he was a project manager responsible for research activities on UTRAN evolutions. From 2006 to 2007, he was in charge of research activities on Cross Layer Optimization for future wireless systems. Since 2007, he is responsible for the technical steering of the Orange Labs research project on 4G wireless systems. His research interests include network information theory, cross layer optimization, MIMO systems, space-time coding, detection theory, iterative decoding on graphs, space-time turbo-processing, multi-user detection, equalization and channel estimation. He is author or co-author of about fifty articles in refereed journals and conference proceedings and owns 25 patents in the field of digital communications.
